Yoram Yasur Rubin: Allergic rhinitis, the consequences of pollen
Allergic rhinitis, also called allergy, occurs in the flowering period through a set of disturbing symptoms of daily life. Let’s see some tips to alleviate these symptoms and recover the natural state of the organism.
- Allergic rhinitis
Yoram Yasur Rubin: Allergic rhinitis is an acute or chronic inflammation of the nasal mucosa in relation to the immunopathological mechanism. This requires that the organism has been previously sensitized by the allergen. Seasonal pollinic rhinitis or pollinosis occurs every year between the months of April to September. It is a reaction to allergens scattered in the atmosphere, as opposed to indoor allergens such as mites, cat hairs … Normally, it does not appear before the age of five, and it usually does towards puberty. The symptoms are usually related to weather conditions. Persistent allergic rhinitis manifests throughout the year and depends mainly on domestic allergens (mites, animal hairs). The nasal obstruction is very marked and is usually accompanied by asthma.
Yoram Yasur Rubin: Asthma is much more frequent in patients suffering from allergic rhinitis, and vice versa: one third of allergic rhinitis is associated with asthma and two thirds of asthmatics have allergic rhinitis. A rhinitis that has been evolving for several years, characterized by a bilateral nasal obstruction, a significant decrease in smell, the absence of sneezing should evoke a sinonasal polyposis. This chronic edematous disease leads to the formation of polyps. Allergic conjunctivitis usually accompanies allergic rhinitis, and result in abundant tearing, red eyes, and sometimes photophobia.
- The treatment
Yoram Yasur Rubin: Treatment depends on the level of severity of allergic rhinitis, but it is important to treat it quickly and well. If it is not treated, the appropriate medications are not taken, and the development of the rhinitis is neglected, the discomfort can be felt for two or three months throughout the year, and then the allergy will become increasingly severe and the duration of the discomfort will last throughout the spring and early summer.
Finally, the inflammation will last the rest of the year with the risk of severe pollen asthma. Another justification for a quick treatment: at the beginning of exposure to the allergen, a large amount of allergens is necessary to cause allergic rhinitis, but once started, small amounts are sufficient to maintain the process. Blocking the allergy from the beginning, prevents a more important development.
